Barrhead Burgh Youth Band gives young people aged 8–16 the chance to learn a brass instrument, develop their musical skills, make new friends and enjoy being part of a band.
Our Youth Band is designed especially for beginners and young players at the start of their musical journey. There are no auditions, and our friendly and supportive approach helps every player build confidence and progress at their own pace.

We believe that cost should never be a barrier to making music.
There is no cost to join Barrhead Burgh Youth Band, and we provide everything young players need, including:
- Brass instrument
- Weekly rehearsals
- Music
- Band uniform
- Tuition, guidance and support
Join the Youth Band
Our Youth Band is now rehearsing every week following the success of our first Kickstart Weekend in September 2026.
Young people aged 8–16 who already have some experience of playing a brass instrument are welcome to join us during the year. You don't need to be an advanced player — the Youth Band is very much aimed at beginners and developing musicians.
If your child is completely new to playing a brass instrument, we would still love to hear from you. Another Kickstart Weekend is planned for 2027, giving a new group of complete beginners the chance to get started together.

Rehearsals are friendly, supportive and focused on enjoying music together while developing playing skills, confidence and teamwork.
New to Brass? Kickstart Returns in 2027
Our Kickstart Weekend is designed especially for young people who have never played a brass instrument before.
Over the weekend, new players are introduced to their instruments and begin making music together, supported by our Musical Director and experienced musicians. It's a fun and welcoming way to start from scratch alongside other beginners.
Following the success of our first Kickstart Weekend in September 2026, we're planning another for 2027.
